Grant Accounting Manager
Corporate Administration - Irvine. F/T, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Responsibilities Include:
Budget Management
- Prepare annual budgets for all grants and budget modifications required by Chief Officers and Program Directors, funding source contract managers or as required to cover line-item budget variances.
- Communicate with Chief Officers and Program Directors, and funding source contract managers to gather necessary assumptions and information for the preparation of budgets and resolve any budget issues.
- Attend program review meetings at funding sources as required, reports program-specific financial information and answers questions from funding sources.
- Prepare annual agency wide budget based on government and non-government grant budgets, and fundraising and donation projections from the Chief Executive Officer, Director, and Program Directors.
Contracts and Grants
- Manage the monthly claim reimbursement preparation process including reviewing claims and projections prepared by Grant Accountants and Budget Analyst for accuracy and completeness, ensuring submissions are completed in a timely manner.
- Identify new contracts and amendments for which new funds may need to be established and coordinate with the Financial Accounting team to determine the appropriate Chart of Account assignment.
- Manage the annual contract closeout process and reviews all related calculations and reconciliations.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and any contract requirements.
General Accounting and Month End Close
- Support grant audits and annual agency audits as requested.
- Complete tasks assigned for the month end close process.
Management of Accounting Staff
- Participate in recruitment, supervision, training, evaluation, and discipline of direct reports.
- Facilitate professional development and training for direct reports.
General
- Work in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Controller propose needed changes to the accounting department procedures.
- Keep Chief Financial Officer informed of department activities and issues.
- Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and all Waymakers staff.
- Assist supervisor, co-workers, department staff, and agency employees as needed or assigned.
- Promote the best interests of the Accounting Department and the Agency. Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5-7 years related experience with emphasis in grant-based or cost center-based budgeting.
- Experience in a multi-funded non-profit agency preferred.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial control.
- Experience of Microsoft Excel and knowledge of server-based accounting software applications.
- Excellent analytical ability and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the Chief Officers, Directors, Program Directors and funding source contract managers.
Salary Range: $6,917.00 - $7,167.00 per month
