Fall 2026 Mediation Training

October 8-24, 2026

Schedule

  • First training day: Thursday *(Zoom), October 8, 2026
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays *(Zoom): 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturdays (In Person): 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Final training day: Saturday, October 24, 2026

*Audio and video participation required. Trainer-led exercises, assigned reading, and online classroom discussion homework will be required throughout the learning process.

Waymakers' Dispute Resolution Services offers a 40-hour HYBRID mediation training for individuals interested in developing conflict resolution skills and making a meaningful difference in their communities. Participants gain practical tools in communication, problem-solving, and mediation while learning how to support people through challenging situations with compassion, respect, and understanding.

The program exceeds the California Dispute Resolution Programs Act (DRPA) training requirements. Participants who complete the 40-hour training will receive a certificate of completion and a strong foundation in the mediation process.

Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Participants interested in further developing their mediation skills may apply to volunteer or complete an academic internship with Dispute Resolution Services. Opportunities include observation, mentorship, and co-mediation opportunities, and participation in mediation services that help people address and resolve real-world conflicts.

Volunteers who complete 75 service hours within six months of acceptance may qualify for a 50% refund of their registration fee.

A limited number of academic scholarships may be available for students enrolled in an approved internship program. Students requesting an internship must submit a cover letter and resume to DisputeResolution@WaymakersOC.org at least 45 days before training begins.

Volunteers and interns must complete an application, interview, and background clearance process.

Registration Fees

  • General Registration: $1,200
  • Senior (55+) Registration: $600 *
  • Waymakers Employee: $150 *

* Discounted rates require eligibility verification upon request.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation requests must be submitted to DisputeResolution@WaymakersOC.org and JReed@WaymakersOC.org.

  • 21+ days before training begins: Full refund, less a $60 processing fee
  • 11-20 days before training begins: 50% refund, less a $60 processing fee
  • 10 days or less before training begins: No refunds
