VAP - Family Violence Victim Services – Santa Ana, F/T, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.
Responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day operation of Family Violence Victim Services. Supervises staff providing services to victims of domestic violence.
- Responds to victims of violence in an effort to mitigate the impact of victimization.
- Establishes and maintains a program of assistance to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and elder abuse; assesses client needs; accurately analyzes cases; and takes appropriate action and follow-up.
- Establishes and maintains professional and cooperative relations with the court, court personnel, law enforcement agencies, county agencies, community agencies and the community.
- Prepares and presents community education programs and training for criminal justice agencies, social services agencies, and victim service agencies.
- Compiles program data and monthly statistical reports.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and the needs of special populations.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field.
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of family violence, and victimology.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration.
- In the first year of employment must complete Victim Advocate entry-level training, certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor as mandated by PC13835.10, and training as a certified Domestic Violence Counselor.
- Requires excellent supervisory, interpersonal, organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Salary range: $5,564 - $5,842 monthly
