RESTITUTION VICTIM ADVOCATE - CJC (VAP)
Victim Assistance Programs - Central Justice Center (ON-SITE), Santa Ana - F/T, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work in Superior Court Victim/Witness Center to determine and facilitate distribution of court-ordered restitution payments to crime victims, while providing advocacy, education, and support to mitigate the impact of victimization.
- Assess and analyze cases, proactively assist victims with restitution requests, verify amounts, maintain accurate client files, collect and forward payments, compile program data and reports, support team training and coverage, and foster cooperative relationships with court staff, DA, Probation, and community partners.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field. Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and victimology.
- Two years of related experience working with people in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Starting Salary Range: $22.45 per hour
