On-Call Victim Advocate SAVS (VAP)

ON-CALL VICTIM ADVOCATE
Sexual Assault Victim Services, On-Call (On-Call After Hours/Weekends)
Responsibilities include:
- Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization and/or the case investigation.
- Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required by being present with the victim at the hospital before, during and after the medical forensic examination.
- Assist with 24-hour rape crisis hotline and responsibilities.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, human services or related field.
- Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and victimology.
- 1-3 years of related experience in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
- Completion of the Sexual Assault Counselor certification training and SAVS Volunteer Orientation.
- Experience in providing information and support services before, during and after the medical forensic examination.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations.
- Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be available to be on rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Starting pay range: $22.45 - $23.52 per hour
*$16.00 per shift
