Budget Analyst
Corporate Admin., Irvine, F/T, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Responsibilities Include:
Budgets
- Prepares annual budgets and budget modifications for grants as assigned by Grant Accounting Manager or Chief Financial Officer.
- Assist with preparation of monthly and annual forecasts and budgets and modifications.
- Researches and prepares variance analysis and explanations.
- Performs what-if analysis to support Chief Officers, Director and Program Directors in decision-making.
- Supports Grant Accounting Manager and Grant Accountants with budgets, projections and requests as needed.
- Communicates with program staff and funding source contract managers to gather necessary information for the preparation of budgets and to resolve any budgetary issues.
Contracts and Grants
- Prepares reimbursement claims and invoices for assigned grants including major, complex grants.
- Resolves claim-related issues and monitors related cash receipts.
- Works closely with Chief Program Officers, Program Directors, Chief Financial Officer, Controller, and Grant Accounting Manager regarding claim-related matters.
- Communicates with staff of Funding Sources to resolve claims and invoicing or billing-related issues.
- Ensures financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and any funding source requirements.
- Generates and reviews trend analysis report for all assigned grants.
- Analyzes grant expenditures and reconciles to general ledger.
- Monitors spending variances to budgets and assists in budget modifications.
- Maintains updated projections for all assigned grants.
- Coordinates annual contract closeout processes and prepares all related calculations and reconciliations.
General Accounting and Month End Close
- Supports grant audits and annual audits as requested.
- Complete tasks as assigned for month end close process.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's Degree required in Accounting with experience in grant-based or cost center-based budgeting.
- 3-5 years’ experience.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of budgeting and financial control and government reimbursement claims.
- Microsoft Excel and knowledge of server-based accounting software applications.
- Excellent analytical ability.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with directors, program directors and funding source contract managers.
Salary Range: $33.65 - $35.57 per hour
