Victim Advocate (Domestic Violence Assistance Program)

Location: Orange, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to victims of family violence in obtaining Protective Orders

  • Provide necessary services to assure immediate safety and long-term needs of the client and his/her dependents

  • Work in collaboration with law enforcement, court, and partner agencies

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of family violence, and victimology

  • 2 years of related experience in a position involving the provision of victim services, and/or peer counseling

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and the needs of special populations

  • In the first year of employment, completion of training for certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor as mandated by PC13836.10, and training as a certified Domestic Violence Counselor

  • Valid California driver’s license, liability insurance meeting minimum state requirements, and a satisfactory driving record

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
