Victim Advocate (Sexual Assault Response Team)

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Schedule: Part-Time or Full-Time; 24 hours to 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Victim Advocate responsibilities include:

  • Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization, and/or case investigation and court appearance

  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other community partners to improve local SART response, and to facilitate local SART meetings

  • Work in partnership with law enforcement to provide crisis intervention, case management, and accompaniment services to hospital, court, and law enforcement agencies as needed

  • Assist with 24-hour rape crisis hotline and responsibilities

Victim Advocate requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and victimology

  • Up to 3 years of related experience in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and the needs of special populations

  • Must be available to be on rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record and possession of a reliable automobile

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
