On-Call Victim Advocate (Sexual Assault Victim Services)

Location: Santa Ana, California

Schedule: On-Call. (must be available to be on rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls).

On-Call Victim Advocate responsibilities include:

  • Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization and/or the case investigation

  • Be present with the victim at the hospital before, during, and after the medical forensic examination

  • Assist with 24-hour rape crisis hotline

On-Call Victim Advocate requirements include:

  • Completion of the Sexual Assault Counselor Certification Training

  • 1-year experience as a hospital advocate, providing information and support services before, during, and after the medical forensic examination

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and victimology

  • 1-3 years of related experience in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and the needs of special populations

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
