Victim Advocate (Homicide Victim Services)

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to families of homicide victims as required to mitigate the impact of victimization, case investigation and trial proceedings

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of homicide and victimology

  • 1-3 years of related experience working with people in a human services and/or criminal justice system setting

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population

  • Must complete entry-level training and Sexual Assault Counselor certification training as mandated by PC13835.10 in the first year of employment

  • Valid California driver’s license, liability insurance meeting minimum state requirements, and a satisfactory driving record

  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese preferred
