Responsibilities Include:
- Provide assistance to victims of violent crimes to include domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, and elder abuse to mitigate the impact of victimization and/or during the case investigation and court appearance.
- Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, referrals and accompaniment services.
- Work in partnership with the District Attorney's office and law enforcement.
- Service victims that are part of underserved populations, including, but not limited to, the homeless, dependent adult, and elder populations.
Requirements Include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice or related field and basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of family violence and victimology.
- Two years of related experience working with people in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, or equivalent social skills.
- Must pass background investigation. Complete 48-hour state certified sexual assault counselor training and certified Domestic Violence Counselor training within first six months of employment.
- Valid California driver's license, liability insurance meeting minimum state requirements, and a satisfactory driving record.
