Diversion Counselor III/Licensed Clinical Supervisor (Juvenile Diversion)

DIVERSON COUNSELOR III/LICENSED CLINICAL SUPERVISOR (Juvenile Diversion - Irvine)

– F/T. (Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm, Occasional evening or weekend events as needed based on consumer needs).

Responsibilities include:

  • Intervene early with youth who are exhibiting delinquency, emotional, behavioral and/or school issues to keep low risk youth from entering the Juvenile Justice System.

  • Work with youth ages 8-18 providing therapeutic and restorative justice practices such as individual, family and/or group counseling services and mediation.

  • Services include: clinical assessments; short-term counseling; parent education; develop and monitor a treatment Case Plan; participation in Peer Court process; and linkage to behavioral health resources for on-going treatment as needed.

  • Provide clinical supervision to Associates and Trainees under BBS guidelines.

  • A hybrid schedule is possible based on client needs.


Requirements include:

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field. Current clinical licensure with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (LMFT or LCSW).

  • Minimum of 2 years counseling experience post-license with adolescent population preferred.

  • Knowledge of theory and techniques of individual, family, and group dynamics, behavioral interventions, as well as substance use issues. Ability to provide clinical supervision per BBS guidelines.

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and be sensitive to the needs of special populations.

  • Ability to establish rapport, make accurate assessment of the family’s needs, and assist the family in accessing and utilizing resources.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

  • After hours availability based on client needs.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
