Diversion Specialist (Irvine)

DIVERSION SPECIALIST (Juvenile Diversion - Irvine)

– F/T. (Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm, Occasional evening or weekend events as needed based on consumer needs).

Responsibilities include:

  • Intervene early with youth who are exhibiting delinquency issues and keep low risk youth from entering the Juvenile Justice System through restorative justice practices such as youth offender and victim interviews, mediation, restitution collection and community service work hours for juveniles referred by the Police or Probation Department.

  • Facilitate Legal Awareness Workshops, develops and monitors a Case Plan to complete sanctions, coordinates participation in Peer Court, links to community resources, matches clients to appropriate community service sites, and develops community service sites.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice or one of the social behavioral sciences.

  • Background with adolescents or the juvenile justice system.

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and be sensitive to the needs of special populations.

  • Ability to establish rapport, make accurate assessment of the family’s needs, and assist the family in accessing and utilizing resources.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

  • After hours availability based on client needs.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
