SART VICTIM ADVOCATE (Victim Assistance Programs – Sexual Assault Victim Services – Santa Ana)

– F/T.  (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm).

Responsibilities include:

  • Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization and/or the case investigation and court appearance.

  • Collaborate with law enforcement and other community partners to improve local Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) response and help improve/facilitate the local SART meetings.

  • Work in partnership with law enforcement and forensic nurses in providing crisis intervention, case management and accompaniment services to hospital, court and law enforcement agencies as needed.

  • Assist with 24 hour rape crisis hotline and responsibilities.

  • Provide SART or community education as requested to educate on accessibility to victim centered SART services.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, human services or related field.

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and victimology.

  • 1-3 years of related experience in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations.

  • Valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

  • Must be available to be on rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
