CLINICIAN/COUNSELOR II (Families First – Santa Ana)

– F/T. (Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm, some evenings, must be available for occasional on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies and 24/7 crisis support).

Responsibilities include:

  • Be a part of a clinical team that is committed to changing the lives of young people in Orange County.

  • Waymakers Families First outpatient clinic offers individual, group, and family therapy, as well as skills groups which encourage positive interaction and self expression to youth ages 0-21 years.

  • We are looking for an Associate Clinician who can bring clinical knowledge, creativity, innovation and energy to our team to help youth make their way past conflict and crisis to a place of strength and stability.

  • The Clinician provides individual, family and group therapy, and psycho-educational groups, conducts initial intakes, develops clinical assessment with diagnosis and treatment plan, provides crisis intervention and case management, assists Mental Health Workers in implementation of behavior modification plans, and completes regular documentation of these services provided to children, adolescents, transitional age youth, and their families.

  • Services are provided within the clinic, schools, in- home, and community based locations.

  • In an Intensive Therapeutic Outpatient Program, the Clinician/Counselor II provides individual, family and group therapy, and psycho-educational groups, conducts initial intakes, develops clinical assessment with diagnosis and treatment plan, provides crisis intervention and case management, assists Mental Health workers in implementation of behavior modification plans, and completes regular documentation of these services provided to children, adolescents, transitional age youth, and their families.  Services are provided within the clinic, schools, in-home, and community based locations.


Requirements include:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field.

  • Possession of a current intern number with BBS on the LMFT/LCSW track.

  • Normally requires 1 year related experience or post graduate, clinically supervised hours.

  • Counseling experience with children, adolescents and families required.

  • Requires knowledge of theory and techniques of individual, family, and group dynamics, behavioral interventions, substance abuse, crisis intervention and cognitive behavioral approaches.

  • Ability to establish rapport, make accurate assessment of the family’s needs, assist the family in accessing and utilizing the resource, good written and communication skills and demonstrates the ability to work with a diverse multicultural/ethnic population with sensitivity and respect.

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.

  • Must be available for occasional on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies and 24/7 crisis support.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
