Victim Advocate (Domestic Violence Assistance Program)

Location: Santa Ana, CA, United States

 VICTIM ADVOCATE (Domestic Violence Assistance Program – Rotating between Lamoreaux Justice Center and Santa Ana Family Justice Center – Orange and Santa Ana) – F/T. (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm).

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide assistance to victims of domestic violence in obtaining restraining orders

  • Provide necessary services to assure immediate safety and long-term needs of the client and his/her dependents

  • Work in collaboration with law enforcement, court, and partner agencies


Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system, family dynamics, sociological aspects of family violence, and victimology

  • Two years of related experience working with clients in a position involving the provision of victim services and/or peer counseling preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations

  • In the first year of employment, must complete training for certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor as mandated by PC13835.10, and training as a certified Domestic Violence Counselor

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
