Victim Advocate (West Justice Center)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Victim Advocate responsibilities include:

  • Provide assistance to victims of crime and witnesses as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization, case investigation, and/or the court appearance.

Victim Advocate requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field

  • Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system and victimology

  • 1-2 years of related experience working with people in a position involving the provision of victim services, peer counseling, equivalent social skills, and program administration

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail

  • Effective time-management skills to work under pressure, balance competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines. Ability to make frequent changes to routine and pace of activity due to unpredictable demands, without loss of efficiency or composure

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and to be sensitive to the needs of special populations. Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record

  • Bilingual English/Vietnamese or English/Spanish required
