Victim Advocate (Central Justice Center)

Location: Santa Ana, CA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, and after hours as needed.

Victim Advocate responsibilities include:

  •  Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization and/or the case investigation and court appearance

  • Work in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement to provide crisis intervention, short term counseling, referrals, case management and accompaniment services to hospital, court, and law enforcement agencies as needed

  • Assist with 24- hour rape crisis hotline and responsibilities

Victim Advocate requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice or related field

  • Experience working with people in a human services setting

  • Knowledge of victims’ rights, criminal justice system, and community resources a plus

  • Work successfully with collaborative work partners

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and the needs of special populations

  • Must be available to be on rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls

  •  Must pass background investigation

  • Must complete Sexual Assault Counselor certification training as mandated by PC13835.10 in the first year of employment

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record

  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
