Victim Advocate (Central Justice Center)

Location: Santa Ana, CA, United States

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, on-call rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls

Victim Advocate responsibilities include:

  • Respond to victims of sexual assault and their families as required to mitigate the impact of the victimization and/or the case investigation and court appearance

  • Work in partnership with the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement to provide crisis intervention, short term counseling, referrals, case management, and accompaniment services to hospital, court, and law enforcement agencies as needed

  • Assist with 24-hour rape crisis hotline and responsibilities

Victim Advocate requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in behavioral science, criminal justice, or related field. Experience working with people in a human services setting

  • Knowledge of victims’ rights and criminal justice system, community resources a plus

  • Ability to work successfully with collaborative work partners

  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural/ethnic diversity of the service population and the needs of special populations

  • Must pass background investigation

  • Completion of training for certification as a Sexual Assault Counselor as mandated by PC13835.10 within the first year of employment

  • Must be available to be on rotation for 24-hour response and emergency calls

  • Valid California driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a satisfactory driving record
